Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF)
Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF), sometimes referred to as Permanent Insulated Concrete Formwork (PIF), is a building system made from interlocking hollow insulating foam elements. The insulating foam elements work as formwork to in-situ poured concrete as well as a permanent insulation to the buildings.
Whilst ICF is a relatively new technology to the UK market providers of these solutions are seeing rapidly growing demand.
With the new Regulations and the stricter requirements for thermal and acoustic insulation, it is likely that ICF will become more popular amongst contractors, developers and builders as an alternative to traditional masonry.
Apollo Offsite are working with a number of ICF providers to tackle the challenges of applying external finishes such as brick slips directly to the outer face.
We are also working on innovations such as offsite manufactured wall elements and panellised flooring solutions to help make ICF more commercially attractive.
